Hard White Envelope Cuttings

Consists of baled groundwood free cuttings, shavings or sheets of unprinted, untreated and uncoated white envelope paper.

Prohibitive Materials:   None permitted
Total Outthrows may not exceed:   ½ of 1%

Note: Due to predominantly long fibre this grade demands a premium price.

AS-32
New Coloured Envelope Cuttings
AS-33
Consists of baled groundwood free cuttings, shavings or sheets of untreated uncoated bleachable coloured envelope paper.

Prohibitive Materials:    None permitted
Total Outthrows may not exceed:   2%

Note: This can contain intensive colours and gold which are difficult to de-ink and are downgraded to Mixed Paper.

Security printed envelope normally blue or grey would also be classified under (PS-33). Caution should be taken of water based inks within a closed mill water system.

Semi Bleached Cuttings
AS-35
Consists of baled sheets and cuttings of untreated groundwood free papers such as file folder stock, manila tabulating card trim, untreated milk carton stock or manila tag.

Manila Tabulating Cards
AS-36
Consists of printed groundwood free bleachable manila-coloured cards, which have been manufactured for use in tabulating machines. This grade may contain manila-coloured tabulating cards with tinted margins.

Prohibitive Materials:   None permitted
Total Outthrows may not exceed:   1%

Note: This grade is rarely found but can be substituted by file folder board.

AS-37
Acceptable Papers:

Computer paper.
White paper: bond, typing, copier, index cards etc.
Coloured paper: bond, typing, copier, index cards etc.
Envelopes: coloured or white, with or without windows.
Fax paper.
Carbonless paper.
Slick or glossy paper: including pamphlets and brochures.
Heavily printed or coated white papers.
Manila and bleached file folders.
Direct mailings.
   

Unacceptable Papers:

Goldenrod coloured papers.
Deep tone, fluorescent dyed papers.
Pre-consumer dyed or coated papers.
Unbleached papers (brown bags, kraft paper, OCC, etc).
Newspapers (or inserts).
Magazines, catalogues.
Stock certificates, beverage labels and other wet strength papers.
Medical files.
 
Bale Limits:
Prohibitive Materials may not exceed:  ½ of 1%
Total Outthrows may not exceed:  2%

Window envelope content may not exceed 5% per bale.
Manila folders may not exceed 5% by weight by bale.

Shredded material content is subject to mill acceptance level.  Total shredded content may be graded as SOP (2)

Fine Papers
Sorted Colour Ledger
AS-38
Consists of printed or unprinted sheets, shavings, and cuttings of coloured or white groundwood free ledger, bond, writing, and other papers which have a similar fibre and filler content. This grade must be free of treated, coated, padded or heavily printed stock.

Prohibitive Materials may not exceed:  ½ of 1%
Total Outthrows may not exceed:   2%

Caution: This quality must be hand sorted.

Note: Often referred to as Office Pack for de-inking into tissue and selected fine papers, newsprint and white top board.
